“This Isn’t Everything You Are” – Snow Patrol

Fallen Empires, the new (in the states) album from Snow Patrol, is a fine addition to the band’s discography. This (slightly bombastic) song of encouragement offers a reminder that disappointment and sorrow do not define our lives.

Every moment of time’s
Just an answer to find
What you’re here for
What you breathe for
What you wake for
What you bleed for

I’m on the run
I’m on the ropes this time
Where is my song?
I’ve lost the song of my soul tonight

Where is the sun?
Feel like a ghost this time
Where have You gone?
I need Your breath in my lungs tonight

I’m holding on
I’m holding on to You
My world is wrong
My world is a lie that’s come true
And I fall in love with the ones that run me through
When all along all I need is You

Sing it out
Sing it out
Take what is left of me
Make it a melody
Sing it out
Sing out loud
I can’t find the words to sing
Come be my remedy

I’ll sing with what’s left of me

Recent Work: “I Can” by Double Blind

My design collective Double Blind recently created an installation for Typeforce 4, which closes on Friday. The project and artist statement are now on our website. We each designed a word from an excerpted quote by Edward Everett Hale; mine was “one.” I’m really proud of the group and the final result.

“Let That Be Enough” – Switchfoot

Many years and collapsed sandcastles later, this song remains as relevant a prayer as ever.
